Chemical Sunscreen VS Physical Sunscreen

Summer is just around the corner, and it's going to be a hot one! With that being said, it is more likely that we will be spending more time in the sun. With spending time in the sun, comes the importance of wearing SPF.

Sunscreen is one of the most important skincare steps you can do to maintain the health and beauty of your skin.

There are two different types of sunscreens 'chemical' and 'physical'. There is a great difference in how the two sunscreens work, either by absorbing or reflecting the suns UV rays.

Chemical

Chemical sunscreens absorb in the skin and penetrate the epidermis and dermis. The chemical compounds work within the skin and on the surface to absorb the skins rays before they can penetrate into the skin and cause damage.

Physical

Physical sunscreens sit on the top of our skin and reflect the sun‘s rays. The main ingredients in physical sunscreens are mineral titanium dioxide and zinc oxide. These are what protect a skin from ageing, sun damage.

Physical sunscreens are generally used in natural sunscreen products and are ideal for sensitive skin types. The perfect physical sunscreen this summer is 'Skin Juice' SPF 'Sun Juice'. Sun Juice can be used alone or layered with a Skin Juice moisturiser. Superfood ingredients to help boost the skin's natural protection against the sun’s damaging effects, providing healthy protection against harmful UVA and UVB rays.

What is best for me?

It is important to always make sure you are looking for ingredients like zinc and titanium when looking for and purchasing a sunscreen, to help repel those harsh rays.
