Signs you have dehydrated skin

Are you trying to get to the bottom of your skin concerns? First things firsts, let’s understand the difference between dry skin and dehydrated skin so we can understand your skin correctly.

Dry Skin is classified as a skin type where your skin lacks lipids and or oils. This skin type is inherited through your genetics. Dehydrated Skin is a skin condition where there is a lack of water in the skin. This condition is caused by external elements including lifestyle choices.

Signs of dehydration

Fine lines & Wrinkles

If you are beginning to notice fine lines on your skin, maybe above your eyebrows or underneath your eyes, you are more than likely experiencing dehydration. This is due to the fact that your skin isn’t correctly hydrated which will cause the skin to lose elasticity. Unlike deep set wrinkles, these fine lines can be reduced and prevented through diet and good skincare!

Itchiness/Tightness

Wondering why your skin is itching more than usual? Environmental factors like the wind, sun, extreme temperature changes or your office air conditioner can strip the moisture from the surface layers of your skin, causing a tight itchy feeling.

Sensitivity/Redness

Increased sensitivity or redness in the skin is one of the main consequences of dehydrated skin. When your skin is stripped from moisture, your barrier becomes disrupted. This means it cannot protect itself from all of those external and environmental factors like pollution and bacteria.

Dullness

Does your skin look as tired as you may feel? If your skin is lacking life and appears to be dull in tone, its because your skin is lacking the ability to turn over fresh skin cells. This means, your outer layer cannot shed as quickly, resulting in congestion, texture and dullness.

So what can you do?

Dr Spiller Facial

Dr Spillers main philosophy focused on working with the skin to help retain its moisture, as opposed to working against it. The Dr Spiller products have been designed with a biomimetic system to mimic the natural functions of the skin and its amazing ability to heal itself.

The Dr Spiller facial is suitable for all skin types and conditions and is completely customisable to ensure lasting hydration of your skin.

Welcome Massage

To truly relax and prepare your mind and body for the facial, your therapist will perform a mini welcome massage to the face and décolletage using a beautiful Dr Spiller Vitamin E oil. This helps to escape from any outside stress and really unwind and enjoy your treatment.

Cleanse

The first cleanse will help to remove any makeup, excess oils and grime from the surface of the skin. This cleanse is super gentle and relaxing to help you unwind into the perfect treatment. The second cleanse will help to provide a deeper clean to help remove a build up of residue, dirt and oil which are all factors that contribute to clogged pores. When your pores are clogged, this can lead to them appearing larger in size.

Exfoliation

Included in your facial is a gentle exfoliation underneath the steam using a gentle Jojoba peeling cream. The purpose of the exfoliation is to gently buff away dead skin cells that sit on the surface of the skin. This helps to reveal fresh and juicy cells underneath, bye bye dullness! This step of the facial feels like heaven.

Professional Fleece Mask

The next step in your facial is a mask. Using a customised, professional strength fleece mask, your skin will absolutely love you for it! This masks helps to improve elasticity, resilience tightness, redness and other dehydration concerns. Just after one mask, your fine lines are instantly less visible! While your mask is nourishing your skin, your therapist will perform a beautiful hand and arm massage. Say goodbye to tense shoulders and tired hands, this step will have you falling asleep!

Hydrate

To complete your treatment, your therapist will apply a serum, moisturiser and eye cream that is customised according to your skin conditions and concerns.

Prescription

To ensure that long lasting Spiller glow, your therapist can write up a prescription of all the products that were used throughout your treatment. This way, you can begin your new skin routine at home too!
