Why you should double cleanse

If you’re reading this, you either don’t double cleanse, or want to know why you should! First of all, lets understand the importance of cleaning your face in general.

Importance of cleansing

Cleansing is one of the most important steps in skincare. Cleansers assists in removing dirt, oil, pollution and bacteria giving your skin that fresh, healthy glow. If we didn't cleanse, it would be much difficult for other skin care products like moisturisers and serums to penetrate into the skin. Not only this, you wouldn’t get the most benefits out of your other steps either, after all you wouldn’t have a clean base to work with!

So, why should I double cleanse?

The first cleanse will help to remove any dirt, bacteria and makeup on the surface of the skin. We recommend either cleansing oil, balm or micellar water to be able to break down makeup and SPF properly first. Be sure to massage your cleanser in for a minute to thoroughly, in circular motions. Our most popular oil cleanser is the Huile Fondante Demaquillante. Hot tip: when using an oil cleanser, make sure to apply it with dry hands and skin to help breakdown dirt and makeup.

The second cleanse will clean much deeper into the pores and help to remove any impurities! We recommend using a gel or cream cleanser. Taking at least a minute to do a water-based cleanse, will ensure you gain all the benefits from your cleanser and its ingredients. Some popular cleansers include Dr Spiller Cucumber Cleanser or The Organic Rituals Anti-Ox Gel Cleanser. (To purchase Dr Spiller via our website, please use the code 'spillerglow').

Cleansing tips

On average, most people only spend about twenty seconds on cleansing, which isn't enough time to massage the cleanser in properly. We know you may be time poor, but cleansing for at least 60 seconds to ensure you get the most benefits out of cleansing! We also must ensure that the water of our temperature is controlled also. Luke warm water works best! If the water is too hot, it can strip the skin barrier which can lead to skin conditions like acne and irritation
